Unravelling emotions
buttressed by arguments
bolstered by anger
have built a wall between them.
A word flung across
the room
ignites rapid fire response.
Attempts at compromises
seeming forgeries,
they shoot them down,
Then retreat
behind
a wall of silence.
They ask,
why are old habits intolerable?
Why the need for revolution?
The history that binds them
is greater than the forces
tearing them apart.
Forecast
of darkness
crush hard thoughts.
Bad feelings
crumble
are shovelled aside.
An uneasy truce,
a slow kiss
a treaty of souls
sing the night.
