Day 3-International Poetry Festival of Medellin

Just getting back from a press conference where poets Niyi Osundare (Nigeria), John Agard (Guyana), U Sam Oeur (Cambodia),Yevgeny Yevtusshenko (Russia), Koumanthio einbou Diallo ( Guinea), Louis Carlos Patraquim (Mozambique), et. al., spoke on behalf of other poets about the significance of The International Poetry Festival of Medellin and the role of the poet. The conference was given in Spanish, English, French and Portugese.
The Rusian poet's outfit remminded me of an abstract painting.  It is as if he is trying to be a piece of art.  He only needs to stand still in a corner in a contemporary art museum and he would fit comfortably into the scene.  I would love to take a photo of him. Haven't had a chance to take photos yet.  I am hoping that the sun will shine. It has been overcast since my arrival. But then again they say that this area has spring all year round.
Some very interesting people here. Have met a few poets from the Caribbean too.  We will be doing a reading together this week.  The scadinavian poets are extremely tall.
Recieved my first book of collective poems in English and Spanish. I am looking forward to reading what the other poets have written. The Festival officially begins tonight and there will be some readings and a party afterwards.
Didn't get a chance to visit the souvenir shops as I had hoped because of the close scheduling of activities and the distance that we have to travel.  Will have to plan that another day. At least I have got my souvenir T-shirts and a CD from the festival organizers.
Lunch time.
